Description

Bolton is a town with a proud history and a bright future. With a population of over 300,000, Bolton stands as a beacon of cultural richness, historical significance and vibrant community spirit. From enhancing public health to bolstering our local economy, we are proactive in our strategies to ensure that no one is left behind.

We are looking to appoint a forward thinking legal and governance professional who is a qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive with significant post qualification experience.  You will drive change through our legal and democratic services, being a key member of our Corporate Leadership Team, providing excellent advice, assurance and guidance to the Chief Executive, Senior Officers and Elected Members. Through your leadership, you will shape a modern and proactive legal service that is embedded across the organisation, enabling innovation and ensuring Bolton capitalises on opportunities. You will advise on exciting borough wide regeneration and investment initiatives, cultivate partnership opportunities, and proactively support our Members in their role within the council and with communities. In addition, as Proper Officer, you will play a vital role in overseeing the smooth running of key statutory services including Registration and Manchester West Coroners Service.

We are looking for a strategic leader who can inspire a whole team and authority, fostering a culture of high-performance and agility. You will understand the importance of working collaboratively in a large and complex political environment, with the credibility to influence at the highest levels, developing partnerships with external stakeholders. You will build trusted relationships with Members and colleagues, ensuring our legal and democratic services are aligned with the wider ambitions of the borough; creating a confident, inclusive and prosperous Bolton.

If you are keen to join an ambitious team, please speak to our recruitment partner GatenbySanderson, Duncan Collins (07586 705 475) or Philip Emms (07590 225472).
