Description
Bolton is a thriving, investment‑ready borough with a clear vision for growth and a strong sense of ‘place’ . With the second largest employee base in Greater Manchester, we are proactive in our strategies to ensure that no one is left behind, delivering investment and regeneration schemes that are reshaping our future and having a positive impact upon our residents.
As Assistant Director for Economic Development and Regeneration, you will be joining an ambitious and delivery focused team, assuming leadership responsibilities for the delivery of the Council and Vision Partnership priorities for growth and investment. You will drive flagship schemes such as the £200m mixed-use redevelopment of Crompton Place in our town centre, a residential, hotel and commercial scheme at Church Wharf, investment in strategic employment hubs such as Logistics North and Wingates, whilst also progressing the ambitious Wigan-Bolton growth location (Northfold), and working to establish a Mayoral Development Corporation for Bolton Town Centre in collaboration with the Combined Authority. You will lead our economic development team with a focus on supporting the growth and development of existing and new businesses, promoting Bolton to investors, advancing our Economic Growth & Resilience Plan and ensuring that local people are able to access support to gain skills, qualifications and work experience to secure sustainable employment.
A strategic delivery‑focused leader with a proven track record, you will bring commercial insight, programme management experience and a background in shaping investment pipelines, spatial planning and infrastructure. Skilled at building partnerships across public and private sectors, you will be politically astute, collaborative and credible with senior stakeholders. We are looking for an inclusive leader with an evidence-led and delivery-focused approach to decision making, and a clear commitment to securing community benefit, unlocking homes, jobs and skills across Bolton.
If you thrive on delivery and want to help shape Bolton, we’d love to hear from you!
